Game Texture Maker

Make textures for floors, walls, terrain, armour and props. Generate a tileable texture with AI or start from your own photo, and GameDevGenie derives the full PBR set — albedo, normal, roughness, metallic, ambient occlusion and height — in your browser. Preview it on a lit 3D shape, fine-tune each channel and download everything in one ZIP.

How to Make a Game Texture

  1. 1

    Generate or upload

Describe a material (“mossy medieval cobblestone”) and generate it from 2 credits, or upload your own photo or texture for free. Twelve sample materials are ready to try.

  2. 2

    Get the PBR maps

Albedo, normal, roughness, metallic, ambient occlusion and height maps are calculated in your browser.

  3. 3

    Fine-tune

Adjust normal strength, roughness, height and more, remove baked-in lighting, and check the material on a lit material ball, sphere, cube, cylinder or plane.

  4. 4

    Download

Save a ZIP with every map, or download maps one by one.

PBR Texture Sets for Game Engines

Six PBR maps

Albedo, normal, roughness, metallic, ambient occlusion and height from a single image.

AI or your own image

Generate a tileable texture from a prompt, or turn any photo into a material for free.

Live 3D preview

See the material under light on a 3D shape and tune it before export.

Delight and tuning

Remove shadows and highlights baked into a photo and balance brightness and contrast.

Using PBR Maps in Roblox

Roblox’s SurfaceAppearance and MaterialVariant take a colour map, normal map, roughness map and metalness map. Upload the albedo, normal, roughness and metallic PNGs and assign them to those slots.

Roblox only supports OpenGL normal maps, which is the default here — leave the normal map format on OpenGL. Roblox PBR maps can be at most 1024×1024: when your maps are larger, the ZIP also has a Roblox_1024 folder with the four maps at 1024 px, named after the SurfaceAppearance slots.

Using PBR Maps in Unity and Unreal

Unreal’s materials take roughness directly. Unity’s Lit shaders expect smoothness, which is the inverse of roughness — invert the roughness map, or use a shader that reads roughness. Normal, height and ambient occlusion maps go into their matching slots in both engines.

Unity reads OpenGL normal maps (the default). Unreal expects DirectX: switch the normal map format to DirectX before downloading, or tick Flip Green Channel on the texture in Unreal.

What You Get

Game Texture Maker FAQ

Is the game texture maker free?

Making PBR maps from your own image is free. Generating a new texture with AI costs from 2 credits, and every account gets free daily credits.

Are the textures seamless?

AI textures are prompted to tile seamlessly; check the edges before you use them. Your own photos tile only if they were seamless to begin with.

Which maps do I get?

Albedo (base colour), normal, roughness, metallic, ambient occlusion and height.

Do the maps work in Roblox?

Yes. Use the colour, normal, roughness and metallic maps in a SurfaceAppearance or MaterialVariant. Keep the normal map on OpenGL (the default) and use maps up to 1024×1024 — the ZIP includes a 1024 px Roblox set when your maps are larger.

Can I use the textures commercially?

Yes. You own what you make and can use it in commercial games, subject to our Terms of Service.
